Lukas Scheibler, PhD

Chief Research Officer

Lukas joined Apellis in April 2018 as executive vice president for research and translational medicine. In this role, he is responsible for creating and managing all preclinical research projects and advancing them into clinical development to establish proof of concept. Lukas is an R&D professional with in-depth experience in drug development. He most recently was head of R&D at Acucela (a Seattle-based startup) and had a 13-year career in research and development, business development, and clinical development at Novartis. He holds a PhD degree from the University of Lausanne, Switzerland, and had postdoctoral training at Harvard Medical School.
