Sharon Morriss, Ph.D.VICE PRESIDENT, GLOBAL CLINICAL OPERATIONS
Sharon joined the Apellis team in March 2017 where she has established a highly functioning Clinical Development Operations team supporting the Apellis global clinical programs in Rare Disease and Ophthalmology. Prior to joining Apellis, Sharon worked at Shire in Basingstoke, UK and in Lexington, MA from 2011 until 2017 with progressive leadership roles in Global Clinical Programs. Most recently Sharon was the Clinical Programs Lead for the Baxalta-Shire merger and lead the Hematology Clinical Programs Team. Prior to this, Sharon was responsible for establishing and leading the Ophthalmology Clinical Programs Team, including Retinopathy of Prematurity, Infectious Conjunctivitis, Autosomal Dominant Retinitis Pigmentosa and Dry Eye (Xiidra). Prior to this Sharon worked for United Therapeutics in Guildford, UK where she progressed to a Clinical Scientist leading an early phase program of an inhaled peptide in Cystic Fibrosis and a global phase three program in Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension. Sharon began her career as a CRA at PPD, UK. Sharon received a B.Sc. (Hons) in Zoology (Parasitology) from the University of Aberdeen, UK and a Ph.D. from the University of Stirling, UK.
